The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee is seeking applications from experienced attorneys who have a strong background in representing Federal, State, or local government in civil litigation, or in a private Civil Litigation practice. The successful applicant will serve as a Civil Assistant United States Attorney with responsibilities related to all aspects of Civil Litigation to include researching legal issues, drafting briefs, taking and defending depositions, conducting hearings and trials, and attending judicial proceedings in defensive cases, including medical malpractice cases, general and constitutional tort cases, and employment cases; bankruptcy cases; and civil rights cases. Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation. Residency Requirements:

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a J.D. degree from an accredited law school, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least three (3) years post-J.D. legal experience. Qualifying legal experience may include work as an attorney, a judicial law clerk in federal or state court and/or litigation experience in the public or private sector. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
