Assistant United States Attorney
The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee is seeking applications from experienced attorneys who have a strong background in representing Federal, State, or local government in civil litigation, or in a private Civil Litigation practice. The successful applicant will serve as a Civil Assistant United States Attorney with responsibilities related to all aspects of Civil Litigation to include researching legal issues, drafting briefs, taking and defending depositions, conducting hearings and trials, and attending judicial proceedings in defensive cases, including medical malpractice cases, general and constitutional tort cases, and employment cases; bankruptcy cases; and civil rights cases. Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a J.D. degree from an accredited law school, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least three (3) years post-J.D. legal experience. Qualifying legal experience may include work as an attorney, a judicial law clerk in federal or state court and/or litigation experience in the public or private sector. United States citizenship is required. Preferred
