Maintenance Specialist II, College of Veterinary Medicine

Job Summary
The Maintenance Specialist performs general preventive maintenance for buildings, equipment, and related systems. Work is performed with an emphasis on safety, basic maintenance practices and a development of skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform basic preventive maintenance on buildings, equipment, and related systems.
Identify and understand structural, mechanical, and electrical systems.
Maintain basic diagnostic test equipment.
Maintain and replace light bulbs and ballasts.
Receive, sort, and stock air filters at air handler units.
Check filter gauges monthly and report when dirty.
Repair pumps and motors on equipment.
Perform electrical wiring, plumbing, and HVAC maintenance.
Keep work site and maintenance shop clean and safe.
Adhere to all safety procedures and training as required by the university, the department and regulatory agencies.
Follow written specifications, plans, drawings, codes, etc.
Develop skills necessary to repair, install, and maintain building structures and equipment
Keep accurate inventories on supplies and parts and order replacements as necessary.
Assist with other areas of Veterinary Facilities Services when needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Must have a high school degree or equivalent
Must have at least 3 years of experience or trade school and experience (experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis)
Must have knowledge of safe work practices, be in good physical health, and be able to perform moderately strenuous work activities
Must have a valid Tennessee's driver's license
Work Schedule
Monday-Friday with occasional work after hours or on weekends
Pay Grade 35
