Work Description:
Performs tasks associated with the Grease Control Program and other water and/or wastewater regulatory programs as assigned. Inspects, evaluates, and educates food service facilities in order to monitor and document their compliance with the Grease Control Program. Communicates daily with KUB customers and/or their representatives about the Grease Control Program. Acts as liaison/coordinator with other KUB departments, contractors, and/or KUB customers. Handles customer complaints and answers customer questions on a day to day basis. Takes samples, performs routine analysis, conducts inspections, and makes field measurements or observations at customer location or KUB facility to be used for regulatory compliance purposes. Maintains program documentation. Uses field data to update databases. Helps prepare internal and external letters and reports on programs as required for program administration. Advises manager or appraiser on a regular basis regarding progress of assigned programs and compliance issues. Acts in an advisory capacity on technical issues involving other KUB departments or KUB customers. Uses guidelines and works independently and with others to ensure regulatory compliance program goals are achieved. The Program Technician, in some cases, may perform all tasks associated with a specific program or a variety of tasks associated with multiple programs. Qualifications
Minimum
Qualifications:
High school education or equivalent
Valid TN driver's license
Physical Demands:
Requires the ability to bend, stoop, lift up to 40 pounds, walk considerable distances, work in tight places on meters, work from heights in pipe galleries; to work around construction sites, food processing, hospitals, funeral homes, in waste water manholes, etc. Must be able to operate gate valves requiring considerable strength. Requires more than normal mental and visual alertness quite frequently. Working Conditions: Works outside 80-100%25%20of the time in all types of weather as required. Work performed in the office under normal office conditions. May be required to work unusual hours or more than an eight-hour workday from time to time.Note: The physical demands described above are intended to relate the approximate physical demands of the classification. Preferred
Qualifications:
Two-year technical degree or two (2) years experience in water/wastewater field
Knowledge of grease traps and grease interceptors
Knowledge of wastewater regulatory programs such as an Industrial Pretreatment Program and Grease Control Program
Experience working within a utility s grease control program
Knowledge of KUB s water distribution and wastewater collection systems
Knowledge of internal plumbing and local plumbing codes
Ability to communicate effectively and provide excellent customer service to all customers, co-workers, employees, management, guests, contractors, and regulatory officials
Ability to handle and solve customer concerns on a day-to-day basis
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word, etc.), or other software applications such as KUB s Customer Information System (CIS), Graphical Information System (GIS), LINKO Pretreatment/Grease Software or XC2 Backflow Prevention Software
Strong oral communications, interpersonal, and team skills
Ability to multi-task and stay well organized
